Mixed Media on handmade paper attached to canvas board with metal frame. Mica chips, sisal fiber, birch bark, pounded wire, pounded brass and acrylic paint. 14" x 12"
Originally from Aberdeen, South Dakota, I am currently living in Boise, Idaho. I also spent 12 years in Webster, SD and 9 years in Watertown, SD. I retired from the military in August of 2007, after 36 years of service, and I started an art studio (New Moon Studio).
I discovered my love of art in my early teens, and I completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fine Art from Northern State College in 1979.
I am currently doing low-relief portraits and creating abstract landscapes in mixed media. I enjoy using natural objects such as seeds, sisal, bark, twigs, fiber and metal elements such as copper wire and brass sheets.
I love retirement and being able to do artwork full-time. Also see my web site: www.johndosch.com
